12th Donaupark Handicap Run (10k No. 214)

Today's handicap race (also known as the timers' nightmare because the runners all finish approx. at the same time) brought some excellent results:
Matthew broke the 18 years old VIC record of 33:56 run by the legendary Robert SHROPSHIRE by 46 seconds !
The French quartet (Denis, Alain, Vincent & Christophe) and Bernd improved their PRs, Günther and Chris improved their Annual Best to be ranked at the top of the list.
Beate took it easy today to pace Adi (didn't even sweat, she said).

24th Annual Donaupark Run (10k No. 213)

Only disadvantage of the excellent weather last Saturday at our Annual Run: there were so many visitors in Donaupark that running the ideal line was difficult. My proposal: let's do this event next time Saturday morning.
Our guests once more dominated this Annual Run. For the first time in VICRunners history: a lady was the fastest in the open category.
Martin Crijns ran his first 10k with us since more than 4 years, and Reinhard did his first 10k after his long stay in hospital - welcome back to both !

Autumn Mile (Mile No. 75)

In today's historic mile race, we saw a VR (VIC record for staff members) by newcomer Matthew, a CR (course record = best time including those of guests) by Beate and many PRs (personal records). The previous VR for men (4:46) was held by Christian CHABERT for almost 20 years, CR is 4:31 run by Hasan TARIQ in 1986. The previous best for ladies (5:53) set up by Liz ROEHRIG had held for more than 15 years.

September Time Trial (5k No. 3)

The VICRunners personnel landscape is constantly changing !
New IAEA staff Matthew will probably be able to break a few records in future as can be seen by his excellent 5k time today.
As partner of Maria-Julia, Peter has been "promoted" to family member as of today, and he will from now on fight for VICRunners Cup points as well.

3rd VIC Games 10k (No. 212)

Our timers Norbert and Stefan managed without any problems to keep track of 37 runners in yesterday's 10k, the second part of the VIC Games 2005.
Double victory for CTBTO ladies and men, twice silver for the IAEA, bronze for UNIDO/UNODC and IAEA/UNIDO 1. Details at the bottom.
Paced by two friends, Beate improved with a time of 40:00 the 18 years old VIC record !

3rd VIC Games Mile (Mile No. 74)

The number of PRs achieved shows that all team members and guests were fighting hard in this first part of the 3rd VIC Games. Quite a number of improvements in the top 100, Beate missed Liz's record by two seconds.
A close finish is to be expected for gold between IAEA and CTBTO in the men's competition. Ladies: everything is still possible.
